Nah there is no comfort on a sports bike. Just a wooden seat and hard suspension. My bike is just right for me Though one can never have too much power I like the look of the 1098 but I dont think I'd ever be able to afford a decent one, and unless you can get a decent one....whats the point?

Not only that.....I have to think of the missus these days, lool, she reckons the sports bikes aren't very comfy for her.... and she is the boss, lol.

A massive 1.461 seconds is the separating figure over a 1/4 mile, for what straight line speed is worth to you? And it can all change with a different rider, differnt track, different weather plus many other variables. 1.461 seconds over 400 metres could be in excess of 60 metres?

But for the not so precise / un-skilled technical riders, week end dudes, this all means almost jack shit, but looks good on paper.

By the 1/4 mile stats the R1 05 & the Ducati 1098 are 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other.

By the figures above the K8 Gixer & the Busa?

Ahhh but this doesn't take into account the non standard parts fitted/no longer fitted like after market exhausts that add up to 5hp and lighten the bike by nearly 8 kg's or more for some. Even something as simple as a power commander chip can make a flurry of difference to fuel injected bikes.

So true You Zipper Snapper, so true. On a different day, same conditions, all bikes ridden by the same rider with the same attitude, you'd toss most of those figures out and re write em? Not withstanding if you shod all bikes with race grip type tyres.

What is interesting here is that the figures don't quiet look right anyway as far as fair comparissons go? The 07 is depicted to do the 400mts in 11.047 @ 124.21 -ok no real problem there. (Did the o5 wheel spin off the line - -quicker to the first and second times) So the 05 still has quicker times at the two other reference points? Where did the 07 make up ground? Pre the 60 mPh or after 100mPh. (the last 24 mph?)

Yeah I reckon a lot of those figures are done by some techy (who probably couldn't ride to save himself) trialing his theories on a dyno or something. I would also like to know why it says that a top speed is not available (n/a). My S4R does 255 kph, both on paper as a measured speed off the gearbox/revs, and on the road.

Hey a few of us went for a ride out of glen innes the other day and that Night finger hit a duck on his R1 doing about 160 k's. thankfully the duck only hit him in the shoulder and not the bike.....a million feathers and a completely disfigured duck.....funny as to watch even if it did nearly lift him off the bike, lol.

yeah can't say i disagree with anything that's been added since my last comment, i must admit i do find it difficult to convince the wife to hop on the back of the R1 (she says they ain't comfy too) but then again if she had her own car we wouldn't have this problem 1/4 mile speeds are likely to be pretty much on par across the board on superbikes and the flavour/cost of the one you buy mostly is to cater to your particular tastes. that said i haven't actually ridden an actual naked bike unless you count my dads old cb200 as a naked bike (i class it as shit with an engine) and so i can't say much about them except for the lack of protection from the wind/rain/ducks.... and how the hell is the night fingers new bike? does he still sneak out of bed at night to go sleep next to the bike?

Nah I cant say we did. We went back later and found it laying on the side of the road. It was well and truly fucked hey, bits of it weren't even connected to the bits they should have been connected to etc.

Hey on another funny note involving the Night Finger, this weekend just gone we went to a bucks weekend in coffs for a mate. Something similar to the one of yours trog. Again we did the paint ball thing, though this time I only got hit once, and it was lightly on the shoulder. Though I cant the same for the Finger......lol



I think we counted about 28 hits on his body from the waist up, lololol......and he wasn't even the buck, lol.
