Finally!

Postby zipr on March 4th, 2010, 11:49 pm

Well I finally have been able to purchase and install BFBC2. Unfortunately it took me nearly 4 hours to get it to play online. EA seam to be having a world of hurt with their server and people being kicked, simply not being able to login, not being able to see servers, not being able to join servers they CAN see. This isn't just me having a winge either, I spent nearly all day on {FB} TS with Vsync, Duran, Burnt, NightFinger, AlNitro, SilentFox and a few others. EVERYONE had some kind of issue either being kicked or just not being able to play at all. Needlessly frustrating, and so far no clues as to why it's misbehaving. Hopefully EA or some cunt releases a patch that fixes it the fuck up cos its pretty ordinary atm (I can only imagine the flood of nasty emails that would have filled EA's mails servers today).

Once a game is actually started successfully, it is one of the best games I have ever played. Still a few small glitches that will need to be patched out, other than that it is really really good to play. It seams the grafix engine has been tweaked somewhat from the BETA as it now performs a lot smoother than the BETA did, and on max settings for me

The single player is also pretty good too, though the split scenes get a little overbearing after a while.

Anyway, I'll be enjoying it whenever it decides to behave itself and connect. :D

So Mr Zipr, a game that I too may invest in shortly once I iron outh the bugs with my new PC. I played Farcry on it briefly over the last two nights and was severly owned. I then reverted back to the P4 3.2 with 1gb ram 12ms screen and went very well? All these new settings to get on top of. Anyway I will be there brother if it is the next online punch on game.

I'm sure Now Who's will be a candidate to pull out your old nose hairs out in game? He was a BF2 head wasn't he? Is he still about or have we lost him?

Well...I just got home with my copy of this game. This better better not be another Far Cry 2....

So far so bad, have to update before I can even play single-player....

Zip, Who's. should I get it? It also seems to be what the PWR rats are into so it looks like we may have something in common?
FC has been my only onlune game ever and I have never played any of the BF series so I'm sure it will be a learnng curve. I'm sure that the PC will now handle it without issue. It is a bastard with FC, everything maxed and the frame rate is still too high and makes online gaming skitzo. I wrote about this in the FC forum. Brett from FCA has been assiting me with slowing down the FC game play.

So do I do it or another game like ARMA or something else?

Got it running...It didnt like running the game in Directx 10. Same problem as this bloke: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/405067.page

Directx 9 makes it run lots smoother anyway, so I can run it at a higher resolution and higher texture quality.

As for buying it CC, yea if ya want...The game doesn't really stand out as anything special to me to be honest (not saying it isnt good though, just doesnt stand out on its own), but I haven't really played games in probably 3 months or so, and when I do...find it really hard to get into. I'll get back into it though...just having a breather from it all. Crickets over for the year, so will see how things go.

But in saying that, I look forward to getting into this game with you lot.

As for ARMA CC, I got that a little while ago...waiting for a new case, psu and graphics card before I can play that properly (fuck this is an expensive hobby )

Ok then, since posting my original post, I have devoted over 45 hours of online time to it and have found it thouroughly rewarding after certain server browser/PB kick/game crashes from time to time issues had been dealt with. It seams the typical EA game. Great when in game owning someone with a knife, or nade launcher, or sniper rifle, or tank, or pistol, or shotgun or whatever your favorite is, even if getting there in the first place took considerable patience. There are over 40 hand held weapons to choose from/unlock. not to mention a volly of different vehicles and specialisations. I'm seeing new and different ones every day.

BFBC2 vehicles and weapons

I know what ya mean Who when ya say it hasn't grabbed your imediate attention. I was the same after playing BF2 for so long. It all seams weird and different, but believe me, give it time, it WILL grow on you. Even if you give it time just to justify the money you have spent on it.

Since I started playing BF2 I have played a number of other online shooters (Enemy Territory Quake wars, Combat Arms, DoD, TF2, BF2142, Crysis, etc), and all the while I have been waiting for something new and exciting to devote my game time to. Although some of the games listed have been fun for a while, non of them have been able to hold my attention for any real length of time....till now.

There are just sooo many things to do on BFBC2. The entire environment, including buildings, tree, walls, and even to some extent the ground itself can be destroyed and altered. I was being 'weak' the other day and went hunting a particular sniper using a tank, I found his arse holed up in a house, as he was hiding in an interior room and difficult to get a clear shot at, i just shot the house a bunch of times and collapsed it on it....c'mon, what is there not to like

Like most games these days that involve the sniper/recon kit, to get a one shot kill, a head shot must be achieved, and fair enough. Though I have always had an issue with a M95 .50 cal taking 2 body shots to kill some one  I have discovered that when one unlocks the M95 (last recon gun unlock), and then combines it with 2 other specialisations being hardened munitions and extra heavy weighted munitions, a one shot body shot can happen if the target isn't wearing extra body armor (also an unlockable specialisation), as Duran, burnt and Alnitro can vouch for

Like I mentioned the other day, when one is able to join a game, your patients is rewarded....

You'll know where to find me for the next....well, a fair while anyway :D

When ya's get it and get started, dont be too disappointed about the server browser being un-intuitive, difficult and slow. It is all of these, but with any luck it will be patched better when they do release one. :?

it's only $69 on steam, but then you dont get the pretty box that it comes with. I'll add you to my games list, remember that to accept an invite you need to go to the right hand side of the main screen, not the friends tab where you would ordinarily think to look. It might be obvious to some but it wasn't to me and a few others i know...so...yeah.

Finished single-player, that was half decent...nice bit of humor (and a few references at Modern Warfare 2). So many friggen cut scenes though, holy shit...I like a game that uses cut scenes to tell a story, but I thought I was going to have to make myself some popcorn at times....

Still need to get into multi-player though...Got so much homework and other shit on my plate at the moment, seriously doubt I'll be able to get into it with you lot for a bit.

It seems to me that this game has completely and utterly ripped off FFOW, albeit made better :? .......being that it is from EA/dice.

[rant]As per the usual, since BFBC2 has gone through the online beta process the weapons have been made weak as piss yet again, damage from weapons in TF2 is more realistic and that looks like a bloody cartoon ffs. It does not take 6 head shots from any pistol within 2 metres to kill someone......c'mon game makers stop listening to the whiny bitches......ooOoh that shotgun is way too powerful.....tone it down...!?!?![/rant]

Its ok when you're in a tank and blowing apart the buildings.

So Mr Dutchy, FFOW is still your preference?

YES! I knew I'd played BC2 before!

This isn't a a Battlefield game, I don't think you can compare this and Battlefield 2 at all. In Battlefield 2 you engage people from the other end of the street. In this you engage people from the other side of (or at times, through) the building block.

I still really need time to sit down and play this, but every time I have a few spare hours, there's no servers available.

f3ral, those whiny bitches are console gamers...this along with every other new release is nothing more than a console port, dumbed down for dumb people. For those DS members with consoles, this obviously doesn't apply to you

CC, you reckon you'll get a copy of Battlefield 2?

alas young whos.....its not the console players whining...

the best enacted fps i have ever played is actually on a console......killzone 1 and 2 and a few others

its only been up until recently that console gamers could not beta test the games therefore they got a more refined product not the rushed out shit that all of us seem to be getting now..... Farcry2 anyone...

and thats not saying everything else is shit, i just started out on consoles before the long and arduous journey through pc games/re-building (to actually play the games you want to)

and yet bfbc2 is battlefield 2 only when it comes to the vehicles i miss the voice speech functions which made it easier to communicate with team mates

Ahh huh, just understood what you were saying. I know that there are plenty of good games on consoles, and yes...I might consider getting a console in the future. Its frustrating when computer gamers get the rough end when it comes to multi platform games, even worse when you consider the fact that the games started on PC (Call Of Duty anyone?)

Yes, FarCry 2 defines that category.

I dare say I will get it Who's although I'm a bit like you atm. I'm studing Spanish amongst a heap of other things. I dare say when the weather closes in all us scum bags, including you, will have a little more time for online game play.

But yes I'll probably get it next week after I get my replacement monitor, but not before that. I never played BF2 at all so I have no comparisson. The only online game I have ever played is FC1. Who's, what I'm looking forward to sneaking up on a scrappy Western Australian who is pretty handy at renovating this site and place a nade at his feet and launching his arse skyward. As for that Zipr bloke, I hope there is the facility in game to trade him as a sex slave to deborched gay militants that will take it out on his hide so to speak. But then again he will probably sell himself and kill our fun?
